How to act in case you face a car trouble while driving on Lima Expresa’s highways? Check our guideline!
- More than 200 thousand vehicles travel through Vía de Evitamiento and Vía Expresa Línea Amarilla daily.
With thousands of vehicles circulating our highway for National Holiday, Lima Expresa is dedicated to ensuring you to have the best possible road experience. To help you prepare, we have already shared through our social media channels essential driving tips to have a safe trip.
Despite taking precautions, some vehicles may still face mechanical issues. Based on our experience, the most common problems a client face are battery discharge, electrical and mechanical failures, lack of fuel, tire problems, engine overheating and load drops.
If you encounter a mechanical failure or any other issue while driving on our roads, Lima Expresa road monitoring and assistance team will come to help you. Here’s how:
How road assistance works on our highway
When driving on our roads, you are constantly monitored thanks to our camera system coverage, and our team is ready to assist you if needed 24/7 during all year. If you encounter any issue immobilizing your car, our assistance team will come to help. A road inspector will evaluate the situation, and if necessary, we will send a crane to prioritize your safety and avoid traffic congestion. Your vehicle may be transferred to a strategic area nearby where you can call a private mechanic service.
What to do in case your car is immobilized
Here’s what to do if you experience a mechanical failure or an accident:
- Turn your hazard lights to alert other drivers. Stay calm to evaluate the situation clearly and make the right decisions.
- Stay on the right side. If you can move your vehicle, drive to the emergency lane on the right side to stay safe and avoid blocking traffic. Wait with your passengers in the safe area on the same side. If you can't move the vehicle, place the safety triangles behind it to alert other drivers.
- Use our free callboxes in the tunnel. If your mobile signal is restricted due to being inside the tunnel, you can use one of the 40 free callboxes. It will put you in direct contact with our Operations Control Centre, which is available 24/7.
- If you cannot exit safely, don’t worry and stay in your vehicle. Our monitoring team watches the tunnel 24/7 with multiple cameras and an AI-powered automatic accident detection system, ensuring incidents are detected within 5 minutes and response time averages 11 minutes.
- Call our 24/7 helpline at 0800-20080. You can reach us anytime with your mobile phone.
- Have your documents ready. Ensure you have your driver's license, vehicle ownership card, and vehicle insurance to facilitate the assistance process.
