● These works will optimize the climate resilience of the infrastructure of Vía Expresa Línea Amarilla and the Vía de Evitamiento, near Zarumilla, one of the busiest areas of the concession that passes very close to the Rímac River.

● The completion of this project is an initiative aligned with VINCI Highways' global vision to improve the climate resilience of its network of more than 3,000km of roads in the world.

Lima Expresa, subsidiary of VINCI Highways and concessionaire of Vía de Evitamiento and Vía Expresa Línea Amarilla, completed the last stage of the embankment stabilization work in Zarumilla area, which borders the banks of Rímac river. These works contribute to the safety and fluidity of the road in one of the busiest areas of Lima.

The last stage of this large project, started in June 2024 and will be completed in December 2024, involves the protection of the foot of the embankment on both banks at the bottom of the channel. To do this, a solution known as soil nailing was implemented with mesh and shotcrete, designed to stabilize these embankments. In addition, jet grouting technology was used along with a metal protection composed of sheet piles and anti-wear plates to protect the base of the embankments.

To stabilize the right embankment, a section of approximately 100 mts was covered, while on the left embankment, it was applied in a section of 82 mts. Thanks to these works, security is provided to customers who pass through the Vía de Evitamiento heading south, near Zarumilla, and to those who enter the Yellow Line expressway, also heading south.

This project, aligned with VINCI Highways global vision, aims to improve the climate resilience of its network and represented an investment of S/ 36.47 million; having a total of five phases, which began in 2019. The first stage of the last phase of the project, started in August 2023 and extended until January 2024, consisted of strengthening both banks of the Rímac river by installing anchors six to eight meters deep and lining the embankment with concrete projected to stabilize.

Raúl Díaz, CEO of Lima Expresa, said: “The stabilization of the embankments in Zarumilla is a fundamental improvement to guarantee the sustainability of our infrastructure and improve its climate resilience. We are implementing the best technology and resources to offer quality road infrastructure, with global standards aligned with VINCI Highways, as well as ensuring the safety of all our clients.”
